Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 2-19-24, Psalms 138:6- "For though the Lord is exalted, Yet He regards the lowly, But the haughty He knows from afar." Any relationship requires a proper understanding of those involved. In our relationship with God, it is no different. Each one must know the other, not a passing knowing, but an intimate knowing. This intimacy is based on trust. Is it possible to be intimately related to the God of the universe? Yes, but it requires work. God is always present, but He is closer to those who come to Him in a right attitude. James 4:10- "Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you." The verses just prior tell how to do this. James 4:6-8- "But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." There is work to do, but it is well worth doing. Repent, receive God's grace and salvation, submit, resist Satan, draw near to God, cleanse your hands and purify your hearts. As you intentionally exalt God, He intentionally regards and intervenes. He is God of all. He is supreme and sovereign; but He regards those who humbly approach Him. 1 Peter 5:6-7- "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." God's love never fails, never leaves; but His closeness is contingent on our actions. Psalms 138:8- "The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands."
