Devotion 2-16-24, Exodus 33:18- "Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” God agreed to Moses' request. Moses saw God's glory, but not His face. Why? Moses loved and feared God. Moses wanted God's presence and protection. He wanted to be one of God's chosen people. Moses knew he was unable to do anything, including lead people, without God right there with him. In John 14:21, we find Jesus, God in the flesh, speaking from the opposite side of the relationship. John 14:21- "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Moses saw God's glory for a moment in time. Jesus promised disclosure of Himself for all time. Jesus is our intermediary. He is all - sacrifice for sin, resurrected Savior, great high priest who always intercedes for us with the Father, the Lamb of God, slain for the world, the Warrior and King who will ultimately slaughter and permanently remove sin from this world. Jesus is all and He offers to disclose Himself to us. He offers intimacy. He offers deliverance; He offers to take up residence in us, not just with us. John 14:23- "Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him." Jesus is all. Within our relationship, we become His and He becomes ours. The sovereign God is our God and we are His people. We are the abode, the house, the home, of God because God's Holy Spirit lives in us to direct our lives. Psalms 91:1-2- "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”
