Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 1-26-24, John 4:23 - "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers." Jesus set all "religious" practices upside down. People were accustomed to following rules; but Jesus spoke about an internal transformation that changed every part of life. Worship of the Father had involved feast days, sacrifices and commandments. Now we see worship of the Father entails spirit and truth. The Father sent the Son, Jesus, to live in an earthly body. Jesus in turn, sent the Holy Spirit to live in all earthly bodies, us, who would welcome His transformative presence. In verse 24, Jesus gives further explanation. "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship In spirit and truth." This is not only outward worship, but inward obedience; it is outward praise and inward recreation into God's image. Philippians 3:3- "for we are the true circumcision,(the real Christians) who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh." Galatians 5:16 - "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh." The hour is NOW! It is past time for all who claim Christ as their Savior to actually live life under Holy Spirit guidance. True walking in the world as Christ followers, true behavior and thinking that glorifies God is required, Now! True worship means every minute of every day is a reflection of Jesus in your life. Nothing less will do!
