Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 1-12-24- Psalm 34:3 - "O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together." Verse 1 says, " I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." How can we "bless the Lord at all times?" How can praise for God Almighty be in our mouths at all times, continually? The answer is in verse 3. Magnify indicates enlarging something to see it better. Magnifying God seems unlikely. Isn't He already larger than us? The key is our perspective. We tend to shrink God down to a manageable size. We tend to place our known human limitations on Him. But God is neither shrunk or manageable. God is infinite and constantly creative. If we think of magnifying the tiniest of specks to see God's creativity in DNA helix's, mitochondria factories, or atomic arrangements that result in specific elements, and we look out at the universe, at the opposite end of the spectrum, we may just begin to comprehend God slightly. If we contemplate the transformation He produces in one who was a hopeless sinner, but is now a saint of God, we may grow in our comprehension of God's ongoing creative powers in every part of life. Do not permit yourself to limit God and His activity in your life or in the world around you. Instead, determine that you will "magnify the Lord" and "exalt His name" at all times, in all places, and in every way possible! Praise His holy name!
