Devotion 1-10-24. Psalms 19:14 - "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19 speaks of God. Verses 1-6 speak about how nature itself testifies to God, just not with "words." Day, night, and the sun's apparent course across the sky, all speak to God's power and glory. Verses 7-13 speak of God's written law. Verses 7-8- "The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." Those who look for God, those who study God's word, will know God deeply. His testimony in nature and His guidance in His own Word, the Bible, lead His people to have wisdom and insight that may be gained no other way. Verse 11 says, "Moreover, by them, your servant is warned, in keeping them there is great reward." Anyone who actually loves God must follow God's commandments, "in keeping them there is great reward." We see that nature speaks without words, the Bible speaks with words, and then we individually are to speak God's words, both internally and to the world. The words that leave our mouths must reflect godly meditation in our hearts. The meditation of our hearts must be acceptable to God who is our rock, our strength, and our Redeemer. All we say and do must reflect God and bring Him glory, honor and praise. Make verse fourteen your prayer.
