Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 1-4-23. Psalms 9:10 - "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." What does it mean, "those who know your name?" What does "know" God's name mean? If you know the name of a person, does that mean you would automatically trust them? That could be very dangerous. You might know their name because of good they have done; or, you might know their name because of the harm and evil they have done. Knowing should not always lead to trust, except with God! God's names describe His attributes as well as His actions. Knowing those characteristics must lead us to trust Him. Trust then leads to action. Psalm 9 states many such actions. Verse 1- "I will give thanks to the Lord… I will tell all your wonders." "I will be glad and exult in You; I will sing praises to Your name, O Most High."(Verse 2) More about God- verse 7- "But the Lord abides forever." "He will judge the world in righteousness..."(Verse 8) "The Lord will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble."(Verse 9) Knowing God's name, means you have not only known of Him, you know Him personally, as your own Savior and Lord. Knowing His name means you have trusted Him with your eternity. Knowing His name means you have, and will continue to have, spent quality time with Him. Those who know His name will not be forsaken! Psalms 8:9 - "O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth!"
