Devotion 12-28-23 Nahum 1:3 a- "The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And the Lord will by no means leave the guilty unpunished..." It is simply wise to know God. The world likes to set aside many of God's attributes, finding it easier to put God in a box than to cope with not really having control over Him. They do not understand; God will not be controlled, not ever. God may be loved, worshipped, adored, prayed to, even blasphemed, but He will not be controlled by mere humans. We are made in His image, not He in our image. To assume God does not see or care about what evil harm you do is to minimize God. His word is clear. Describing wisdom, Proverbs 8:14 - "Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine." God speaking, Ezekiel 18:4 - "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die." Psalms 50:12 - "If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine, and all it contains." Job 41:11 - "Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine." God made us for Himself. He created us for loving relationship, not harm. He breathed breath into us for good, not evil. He sent Jesus to intervene for us, so that by His blood, we might be saved from sin. When we harm those made in God's image, we harm our own relationship with God and He "will by no means leave the guilty unpunished." Hebrews 10:29 - 30 - "How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” This is extremely serious. Consider your thoughts, words, and actions. Any evil harm to others, in any form, angers God. He will judge His people, all the people of the earth. Be found in Him, not against Him! God is love; but, He is also justice. He is forgiveness; but, He is also vengeance against injustice. God tells us that, without repentance, the guilty will be punished.
