Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 12-27-23 Luke 5:16 - "But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray." If you read through all 4 Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke , and John, you will discover that Jesus prayed. He would often go off by Himself to pray. The Son of God needed to pray. He did not just want to pray, He needed to pray. He was fully God, but also fully human. Jesus "would often slip away" to pray. He would go for a respite from the crowds to whom He ministered. He would go for some refreshing, encouraging, fulfilling quiet time with His Father. What is your habit with God? Do you get up early just to sit with God, reading His words to you and praying for wisdom and guidance? Do you forfeit sleep to dedicate quality time with your Lord? Is He your first priority in the morning? Is His Word the best, most nutritious and fulfilling, food of your day? Prayer was a priority for Jesus. Ought it not be your top priority as well? 1 Chronicles 16:9 - 12 - "Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders. Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad. Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done, His marvels and the judgments from His mouth." Isaiah 55:6 - "Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near." 1 Thessalonians 5:16 - 18 - "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
